Mystery solved

 1. New hyacinths are 2 pink 1 white with a pink streak . 2. Booking my covid vaccination  3. Watching a crow doing his/her’s dance then a magpie flew down , maybe to join in ?

No indication

 1. Brought some more hyacinths. Not sure of the colour as no indication on label . I think white . They was half price unknown to me yet again no indication. 2. We all thought son in law might of caught covid test came back negative, just a heavy cold. He being sensible will stay in and doubly make sure he is ok .phew!  3. A beautiful winter’s day . Sun shining, birds singing just a gentle refreshing wind .

Hyacinth, Quiet & Chocolates

 1. I say it every year and will continue to do so, the hyacinth gives me so much pleasure. The scent is so gorgeous. And it gives a lovely show. Every year my dad had some for Christmas and it’s one tradition I will always continue to do. Thank you dad. 2. Christmas was quiet but good. Work was quiet I worked Christmas Day but I never do mind .  3.  Was given a different tub of chocolates , you get soon asked me to buy some more as they are so good. For someone who doesn’t like sweets they must be good. He has got a birthday coming up soon . Guess what he is going to get?

Scrooge

Snuggled down with my crochet was going to be knitting but found some unfinished crochet motifs, while watching Scrooge a Christmas Carol with Alistair Sims my favourite Scrooge.

Good Week

 1. Finishing a hard week at work , but a good week though. 2. Walking down hill headlong battling the wind. Why is the night wind feels so different and smell different? 3. Kindness of strangers smiles above the masks .

Explode!

 1. Completing all the housework in one big swoop. Hurrah!  2. Having to explain once again about tier 3 ! Not an easy job! Hopefully the person will now understand how serious COVID is! But I doubt it ( this is not positive but I had to write it down otherwise I will explode! ) 3. Eldest son went back home aboard at the right time . He works and has family he hasn’t seen for 8 months . After his quarantine he can he has not long to go now.

Rollercoaster

Been a rollercoaster of a week or so, I think I have stepped off it for a while. 1. Eldest son departed for his home abroad not seen his family for 8 months but was able to go. Sad to se him go , but glad that he was able to go to see his family. 2. Work booked an days holiday for me without me knowing at the last minute, I turned up for work and they told me ! I took it , a little bonus. 3. Crochet blanket is done . Now to find knitting needles! Then sort out patterns

Better Week?

Not a good week last week ,hopefully this week will be better. 1. Wondered why the tea wouldn’t brew then realised that I didn’t boil the water! 2. Waking up to a grey Misty morning then noticed a robin having a wash in a puddle . Puffing out his beautiful red breast. A colourful start to the day. 3. The kindness of strangers ,a please and a thank you, you are welcome. All small phases but mean a lot. Smiling with their eyes as with wearing masks you cannot see the smiles but it shows up in their eyes

Precious

The fairy lights in the distance twinkle like precious coloured jewels in the night. Adding a welcoming glow.

Back

 1. The winter chill and scent-is in the air . A nice crisp s scent of both, 2.  Back at work after a week of . Nice to be back but lots to do. 3. Going into tier 2 , hopefully it will work. Hopefully no more lockdowns, but we will have to see.

2 for 1

 1. Dare I write it? I bought not 1 but 2  more fairy lights! Now half price so 2 for 1.  2. Having a bedroom clear out . Found new bits so out with the old in with the new. Being brave here . I am a hoarder by nature. 3.  Enjoying the late afternoon sun as I am usually on the way to work by now and enjoying my break.

Holidays

Whole week of work . Much needed this holiday so much has happened but I try to remain positive. People think I lead a charmed life but I don’t but try to be positive as I have had bad depression in the past and do not want to go back to that black hole for it took a very long time to get out of it. Yes life gets me down at times as it does us all, I can now notice the signs and then do something about it .

Fairy Lights 3

 1. Christmas tree and red lights bought. I think I have an addiction to fairy lights. 2. Being told months ago that a lady who I used to speak to died , is actually very much alive as I saw her yesterday coming out of a car , she doesn’t get out much now. 3. Week of work! Much needed  but will miss it. And miss the walk home in the evenings something special about early evenings .

Lights Foil Cream

 1. Young girl out in the early evening riding her bike with her dad trying out her new lights for her bike. The look of awe on her face and the sound of laughter, brighten up a dull windy evening.  2. Putting the silver foil case in the dessert bowl and throwing away the mince pie. 3. The new barrier cream seems to be working, having to wear a mask has bought me out it eczema only slightly at the moment but itches badly at times

FairyLights 2

 1. Fairy lights on to brighten up a very rainy dank dull November morning . I actually quite like these sort of mornings . 2. Sunday roast going to be cooked a bit later. 3. Planning an afternoon of crocheting and watching tv.

Fairy Lights

1. Fairy lights are not just for Christmas !  2. Shocked daughter when I said I bought fairy lights and put them up.she was speechless for a while. 3. Along hard week at work , so glad that the weekend is here.

Goosebumps

 1. Eldest granddaughter asked for some cookie recipes have you any nanny ? You bet I have I have loads.  2. This lockdown isn’t as bad as the first one for me. I now know what to expect and am dealing with it as good as I can.  3. One way of dealing with this lockdown is crocheting the baby blanket , so soothing to do and the yarn I chose is sublime . It’s giving me the goosebumps .

Cream Tea

 1. Had a cream tea indoors really scrumptious. 2. Went shopping yesterday saw no sign of panic buying 3. Crochet blanket going well

Missed

I missed this blog! So I am back. These pass few months have be challenging but hopefully I am slowly winning the battle , I take a few steps forward then slide a few steps back, so I start all over again. So here are 3 things which are positive for me 1. Going to be a nanny again in March. YES!  2. Crocheting a blanket for baby in a lemon yarn with a lovely shimmer to it. 3. Nearly done 2 years at work where has that time gone? Learnt a lot .

Don’t Like

Sorry do not  like this new layout of blogger. So it is time for me to go elsewhere. Not that a lot of people read my blogs. So bye bye

Sexy Fruit

1. Slicing up a fresh lime. That super fresh tingling sexy scent making my nose quiver. Freshly cooked beetroot and raw carrots makes my taste buds quiver as well. If I put all three together what an explosion of taste and scent. I better bottle those three up! 2. Got given a huge glut of home grown plums , so my morning will be stoning them and cooking them , cake , crumble , jam , but saving a few to eat raw yum! 3. Trying hard not to moan , so thank goodness for the glut of plums!

Body Spray

Kid you not for men a body spray with marmite. Youngest son tried it and you can smell the salty background notes! Not sure if it will catch on.

Healthy? Part 2

1. Going back to work after having a couple days off. Very badly needed. Just pottered about and doing things I wanted to do. And I missed work ! 2. No doughnuts for me today, only grapes and a clementine but sometime they don’t fill the spot. 3. Now eldest son is doing toast the smell is wafting enticingly. Think I have to have some soon with peanut butter. Is that healthy?

Healthy Eating?

1. 2 jam doughnuts and 1 clementine. Sort of healthy eating ! 2. Loving my new haircut . Social distancing and safety was applied very strictly. 3. Day off today so picking up some crochet, the knitted squares are on a break for a very short while. Due to the fact I put the yarn away what I am using and cannot find it!

Rollercoaster

Not been here for a while as life has been a bit of a rollercoaster. They say bad things comes in threes! And they have 3 very unpleasant things far to personal to put here , especially the last one which I was told of last night. But I sit quietly listen to music , stare out the window and look at nature which seems to have a calming effect on me. Watching the wind blowing through the trees, watching them bend this way and that way. The clouds are moving fast some grey some white some a mixture of colours. Be going out for a walk soon hopefully it will help to blow the cobwebs away.

Curly

1. Woke up to a warm golden sunrise which swathed the bedroom, then came the torrential rain. 2. Realising that the washing was left out overnight, so it had an other wash! 3. With my hair being longer it’s decided to curl up at the ends, I am now called curly! It used to be straight.

A Good Day

1. Reading the wrong temperature no for the oven I read for the normal oven not fan, so one nearly burnt dinner! 2. Used to wearing masks to work on the bus. I find sitting near an open window helps. As the masks are warm to wear especially the antifogging ones. 3. Youngest son treated me to a drive out and it was lovely, we didn’t go to any garden centres but they were very busy and one had an overflow car park open. We just had a nice run around the country lanes. Then home to tea and cakes!

Beep

1. My beep has been put back on so I can go through and do the offices now. Found the right person do it thank goodness. Thank you right person. 2. Brought out the toaster out of retirement due to son wanting toast and got fed up using the grill on the cooker. Mind you the toaster does better toast. Never really liked the grill. 3. So I had toast and marmalade for the first time in ages . I felt I was like Paddington bear or nearly, just remembered he likes marmalade sandwiches. I like them as well on fresh crusty bread!

Old Habits

1. Making a better afternoon cup of tea than the morning one. The morning one was yuck! Why do I say cup of tea when it’s a mug of tea I make , I suppose old habits die hard. 2. The queues for the shops this morning were long very long apart from the supermarket I go , no queuing there today. But it was nice to see the independent shops open. 3. Got used to wearing mask on bus now , but they are so warm to wear on the buses and buses are warm at the best of times.

Sunday

1. Tipping down with rain , eldest son out running in it. He be soaked through. 2. Things are changing at work hope for the best. 3. Seeing granddaughters on Sunday doing the social distancing but eldest granddaughter will be 10 and the youngest was one of the first ones who had her birthday in lockdown so be so nice to see them both and not forgetting my daughter who birthday is 2 days after eldest granddaughter!

Indescribable, FoundTweed

1. Walking in the rain and loving how the rain is falling gently and the smell of the rain an indescribable scent. 2. Finding my other pair of work trousers, underwear and socks all in a bag at the bottom of the wardrobe hidden right at the back. 3. And finding more wool and craft books! The wool is a beautiful blue grey tweed , so must find a lovely pattern for it.

Morning at 5

Got up at 5 in the morning, thinking why have I got up so early? Then remembered it’s rubbish day. Now the next thought is it bin ? Glass? Or paper? Then just thought it’s bins , then glass or paper? Still can’t remember, so a quick peep out the front door ah yes it’s paper. Neighbours along here always put their bins out overnight. I don’t because we have a lot of foxes this way and the mess they make is not good . Plus also seeing we can put out textiles and small electrical appliances now, other people come and search through the bags and they leave a mess . Early morning tea at 5 then do the rubbish. Never have a problem with food waste bin due to the fact it’s every week. Our council is forever changing what’s picked up one week and what’s picked up the following week . As soon as we get used to the changes , it all changes again.

Tapes,Foil, No

1. Found some talking books but the problem is they are all on tape not disc. Not sure if charity shops be taking donations when they open. I will find a home for them . I know I can put them on eBay, maybe eldest son can help with that. 2. Went to local shops to get a couple of bits in , went round the household section and thought I don’t need anything there, came home put shopping away then looked at one of my baking tins covered in foil, FOIL that what I needed! 3. Written instructions for crochet squares going ok, so now going to make the square to see if I got it right! Knowing my luck no!

Written

1. Trying to write down a crochet square pattern. A lot easier said than done. But when written out properly I shall put it here on this blog. 2. Heard from a friend , lost her number due to my old phone packing up and she is not on social media. But anyway it was nice to hear from her and I have written her number down ! 3. Made the best cheesy mashed potatoes for ages. Usually I use mature cheddar but this time I used extra mature cheddar a little bit goes a long way!

A Good Week

1. Discovering Charles Aznavour again. Remembered him from my childhood and now appreciating his beautiful voice. 2. A cosy day in, rain lashing against the window wind very blustery, coffee , cake and magazines, then knitting adds to a special day in. 3. A hard and long week at work. An enormous learning curve on the ward I am working on, wish I had more time to look after the staff and patients , I tried to get more time but the answer was no, so I make sure I really step up my time there.

Quick!

1. The rain starts as soon as I leave the house to go to work ,  I had my umbrella handy didn’t need it as it was so nice to walk in the rain. 2. The rain seemed to bring the scent of the flowers strongly and the scent of the wet earth so sweet and lovely. And it made the air fresh. 3. Went shopping expecting a long queue, but no queue the assistant said you are lucky quick before the queuing start joking. Pleasant to do shopping , was quiet.

First

1. Went to visit a friend who is living on their own first time since this has all happened. Fortunately they have got a very large garden so we could social distance properly. . They even rigged up a temporary toilet in a shed! 2. First drive out and it was good. Youngest son drove and it did him some good as well. First time he has been out , he takes all this very seriously. And the weather was nice not to hot just right. 3. Having Sunday dinner out in the garden a very pleasant experience it was and no we didn’t have a barbecue it was cooked as usual In the oven etc.

Half Cut

1. Lockdown is easing quite a bit, but I think it’s to soon but that’s my own personal opinion. I think it’s a case of damn if you do and damn if you don’t , not easy at all. 2. Next door cat keeps coming in, it’s nose has been put out of joint since they got the dog. Am feeling sorry for it even though it bullied my cats. And it waits outside the kitchen door . But I do not feed it at all. 3. I have got a half cut lawn ! Strimmer stopped working and guess what? So did the mower! So must get a new one each soon!

Glorious

The song of the robin ends a perfect summer’s evening for me , it was a glorious day it was warm sunny and breezy and work was good.

Busy and Helpful

1. A friend won a chocolate hamper at work. Well done ! 2. Had a good laugh with the cashier at the supermarket . 3. The high street was like a normal Tuesday but most of the shops still closed and the traffic as well was busy. The lady in the chemist was so helpful thank you!

Happy

1. As I don’t like queuing very much when I went shopping last, I treated myself to some supermarket own brand of facial cleanser as I ran out of my usual one and very impressed . I don’t like anything to rich or heavy for my skin and it’s just right for me , so I be looking at other items in their range. And the price was very reasonable. 2. Got a big bag of empty notebooks and craft bits , Christmas and birthday wrapping paper and train fairy lights , hats and remembered to put in the blanket I made to give to my daughter. Hopefully I be able to pop them round soon. Does wonders this decluttering. 3. The Easter cactus which used to belong to my dad has gone full circle it was on the brown unit, then kitchen , then bathroom, then outside (not proud of that) then hall, and now back where it belongs on the brown unit, in a new pot and it given me a wonderful show of flowers, I hope it has forgiven me for moving it about.

Dad

Yesterday would of been my dad’s 97th birthday. All I wanted was to visit him and have a cup of  tea , a slice of cake , one of his lovely dinners and a small posy of his flowers . Instead had tea, cake dinner, and got him a lovely bunch of flowers here instead. There are times when I need my dad, I know I sound selfish, but he was well loved by me and his grandchildren and he still is greatly missed and loved. So where ever you dad , grandad we love and miss you, but hope you are in a happier place.

Laugh and Grumble

1. A much better day thank goodness. Met big sister social distancing we had a takeaway coffee and tea. Had a good grumble and laugh. Blew the cobwebs away for the both of us. 2. My mother is doing well at 93 but as she is shielding she cannot go out but she sits in the garden and tries to do some weeding. 3. Looking for a nice crochet pattern to use up some wool I found . I like to think ahead for projects to do. I have got a couple in mind!

Not A Good Day

1. Trying to keep positive but still fuming, the branches now have been moved next to my wall of my house! I know that the green is the council property which runs along  my house wall . But they won’t clear it up as they didn’t cut  the branches down. 2. Not a good post today . So I best start doing something indoors to work og the stress and oooh! 3. At least the weather is still good.

Good and Bad

1. Put on jumper then it turned very warm. At the moment wearing a cotton jersey dress just right. I find cotton jersey really comfortable to wear even in nightwear. 2. Noticed that my lovely postman has got a lovely tanned legs! He even wears shorts in the  winter!  Actually he is very nice to look at but only look at mind you! 3. Branches was cut off the tree next to the house but not my side council side, by so called law abiding citizens, they  weren’t in the way. And they were left on the green, my two sons were blamed for that, but fortunately we got proof it wasn’t them but my next door neighbour and friends.

Hazel and Blue

1. The early morning really looked promising the sun was out , so I put on a nice summer top on , the sun went in and it’s now cloudy , now to change into a jumper! 2. Put in for a holiday request usually takes up to a month for a reply, got the reply same day I put it in . And yes I got my days off . Something to look forward to. 3. Looking at old photos and noticed that daughter and youngest granddaughter looked very much the same at the same age, only difference is one has got hazel eyes and the other blue.

Enjoys

1. Done some gardening. Cleared away a dead bush and the room it’s left is large. Larger than I first thought. 2. Had a lovely chat with my postman, such a lovely man. Me at the door and him at the gate. He was telling me about his hot air balloon experience and he just got it in before this lockdown. I would love to do it but not got a good head for heights. 3. Youngest son has still got the sorting out bug, I am thinking of hiring him out when hopefully this is all over I know it won’t be for a while. But he is good damn good. Bless him and he enjoys it.

Key and Net

1. Lost a key couldn’t find it when I came back from shopping , put shopping away then realised a key was missing so re-traced my steps, no I didn’t drop in the shop or on the way to the shop. Then pick up the oranges which was in a net and saw the key caught onto the net! 2. The strumming of the garden didn’t come about due to next door chatting away for ages , there is always tomorrow. 3. Made a homemade spag bol  Which went down very well

Blissful

1. Early morning knitting and the first cup of tea to start the day. Very blissful and much needed. 2. Youngest son has devised a stretch exercise routine for me . I have lost weight and now need to tone up a bit. So starting very very gently safely and sensibly. 3. Eating smaller portions of the same food as everyone else is helping me loose weight. Plus eating more fruit is also helping. Putting my food on a smaller plate . But still allowing myself  a small treat a day.

Done And To Be Done

1. Weeding done. 2. Sausage meat and baked bean pie done. 3. Washing done. 4. Rubbish and recycling done. 5. Sweeping and hoovering done. 6. Shopping done. 7. Coffee and cake time hurrah!  8. Walk to bus stop . To be done 14. Go to work . To be done. Then home !

Sunshine Project

Found some yellow wool and started to crochet some triangles , having a little break from knitting squares which is doing well. The triangles will be my sunshine project, haven’t got a lot of the bright yellow , but I am sure I have got some more bright colours hidden in my enormous stash. I really and truly didn’t realise how much wool I got , but so glad I have. But to start knitting again . The triangles are just a basic dtr pattern plain and simple easy enough to do in my sleep!

VE Day

1. VE bunting and balloons have been put up  Outside various houses, looking bright and cheerful. A heartfelt thanks to all past present and future. 2. Sshh is that superman I hear? Is that a huge flock of birds I hear? No ! It’s a plane going over what a strange sound! So used to them not going over. 3. Last evening , saw a very long and I mean long thin cloud it stretched as far as the eye could see, and the peachy pink of the sunset glowed through it it was sort of sparkling in places a wondrous sight.

Fortunate

1. Store cupboard sorted and glass and mug cupboards done. Plenty of mugs be going to daughters. 2. Still enjoying work even in this difficult time I am fortunate to be able to go to work still , keeps my life a bit normal. 3 . Made some new friends on the covid ward with some of the staff they absolutely lovely.

Happy

1. Cheese scones went down very well will be making them again. Eldest son loved them. He ate most of them . 2. No pain a raisin to have and when I can get all the ingredients I will be making my own. I think I got the baking bug. 3. Beetroot and radishes have been repotted and looking good. Normally I kill plants etc off just by looking at them. 4. After years og being put here and there the 30 year old Easter cactus is finally back where it belongs on the brown unit and it still blooms beautifully.

3 Bright Things

1. Managed to get a small bag of flour so going to make cheese scones. 2. Going to repot the radishes and beetroot. Was given some seeds they have grown well now to repot them .  Found some suitable compost. 3. Going to declutter the brown unit. Far to many bits and bobs on it. But it won’t take long. Going to be ruthless.

Lego

Came home to no2 son sorting out his Lego, even he didn’t realise how much he had. He tidied it all up and guess who found a piece when the floor was all cleared of Lego? Ouch yes  my foot and bad foot at that. The floor was all cleared of Lego and one piece was lurking around for me to tread on.

Shopping & Cobwebs

Went shopping on my usual shopping day. It was nice. But did not do my usual supermarket this one is quieter I think I will continue using it . Got all what I needed. Bin men picked all the rubbish , now to start filling the bin up again. Wet grey and dull out there but it’s pleasant enough . My cobwebs have been blown away!

Hello

Walking up to get my bus to work I passed the lady who I usually do out walking her dog and we both said hello to each other at the same time. I think we will become friends somehow. She always walks her dog in the afternoon and said that’s her daily walk even before lockdown .

Knitting In The Morning

Why do I feel guilty doing my knitting in the morning? I am so used to doing it in the evening and weekends. Done all the chores what needed doing so sat down and done some knitting. When the children were younger I used to sit down about 2 and knit till about 3 then picked them up from school. Unable to do that now as they are all grown up now! Also I have to get ready for work at that time. Plus also I was up early this morning didn’t have a good sleep, but hopefully tonight I will.

Lovely Neighbour

Walking up the path near home saw my lovely neighbour she is not well but not with this virus I am glad to say, social distancing in place we managed a little chat. She lifts my spirits up and she has got a wonderful sense of humour.

Doughnut Wednesday

1. When I unpacked my shopping I found a packet of doughnuts how they got there I do not know lol! Was good with my coffee. 2. Shopping was so nice. Didn’t have to queue up . Got there expecting to queue but they called me in straight away, and it was quiet in the supermarket.  3. We change our eating habits a bit since lockdown and for the better, still get a few treats in for everyone 2 sons and me. Doughnuts anyone?

Daily Tuesday

1. Daily walk completed with younger son. Eldest son went on his run. When this is over I must continue to do a daily walk. 2. Bought tins without ring pull, how lazy we got! Hoped that the tin opener works and yes it does. Dinner is now sorted. 3. After 6 weeks of not having tins and plastic not being picked up , the men came to pick it up!

Monday

1. Doing housework with headphones on dancing and bopping away to heart’s content. Least I am getting exercise! Vocal chords as well. 2. Seagulls circling overhead cawing or whatever noise they make. I think they miss the day trippers at the seaside so they flew here to find out where we are. 3. Now getting ready to go to work it’s nice in away as it’s routine for me.

On The Phone

.Sister at the other end of the phone with her tea and muffin, me at the other end with my coffee and toast covid19 is not stopping our Saturday meet-up which we doing for the past40 years plus! We may not see each other but we can have a good laugh and chat. I know you can FaceTime zoom and whatever else is out there but she is a bit of old fashioned girl and likes talking on the phone!

Enjoying

Youngest son donned an apron on and started to do more sorting out and he is really enjoying it. And enjoying bossing me about! But I don’t mind it was the kick up the backside I needed.  Finding my original iPad. It was put in a safe place! Also I forgot long on details etc for it , so I was treated to a new up to date one . Then all of a sudden I remembered the login details for it so call me 2 iPads . The one I found is really old but usable .

Concrete Beauty

An early morning walk around the urban jungle I live in . Like to think that I am the only one up, but I know others will be up. The street lamps add their glow to the dawn which is just beginning to break through . Trying to find beauty in this place, then I notice a grass verge which has not been cut so there was dandelions daisies and buttercups galore, adding their beauty against the concrete.

Peace

1. An other lot of books sorted and found some I forgot about. Mainly craft books so definitely no more craft books . I have said that before but I will try lol! 2 . The squares I am knitting are coming along well and the colours are really working well . Pink and orange with white. 3. Knitting is really soothing for me it calms me down and I feel at peace with myself.

Rearranged

Came in from work and I was speechless my son  rearranged the living room . I had forgotten how much bigger the living room is . It looks really lovely. I was bored he said so I thought I do it . Bless him.

Sister

Spoke to my sister on the phone the other day, she suggested an other supermarket than my normal one, and I did take her suggestion and it was stress free shopping no long queues got what I wanted . Thanks sis! My 93 old mother is coping with this very well this lockdown, I been through the war and survived I am going to survive this she said. My sis lives with her.

Thanks Dad

1. Went on my walk , I had to make myself do it. It’s so easy to stay in and do housework! But feel so much better for it. Checked son’s car. It’s fine. 2. A black tipped butterfly came to visit . 3. Still listening to James Last I don’t know what it is about his music it giving me a lift. Also it reminds me of my dad who had a love of band music and jazz. Thanks dad for sharing your love of music.

Large Gin !

1. Watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang . 2. A large gin and ginger beer with spiced orange went down well. 3. Joining a craft forum online and interacting with other crafters .

Headless Phones

Headphones on bopping about to James Last in the kitchen humming along as well, eldest son walked in and gave me such a look. I said to him these headless phones are really good and it took me awhile to get used to moving about with them on , without out the cord. Mother he said you lost the plot lol!

Square

1. K3 p3 on 21 sts continue for 34 rows . Then cast off . 1 square made. 2. Done shopping. The queue wasn’t to bad, but will stick to a evening shop for the time being once a week. 3. Brought some chocolate, some people need their wine , ciggies etc I need chocolate just one small bar a day.

Soothing

1.  Casting on stitches is really soothing my soul. Remembering my granny who taught me how to knit when I was just 4 years old. 2. How do other people stay positive in this difficult time. Glad I got my reading, knitting and crochet. Got stacks of  books to read and bags of wool. 3. Trying to keep in a routine, my routine had to change like many others but it’s not easy.

Finally

Going for my walk, saw 2 people who I usually have a chat to and since this lockdown not been able to have a chat, we said hello from across the road. And we were socially distancing. Saw one lady near home going for my walk and the other on the way home. It’s times like these  that you realise what you take for granted and who. On a happier note I found my new knitting needles and row counter. I just could not find them put them in a safe place , i look and look but kept finding other bits instead and I was getting frustrated as I want to do some knitting , finished the cat blanket, I usually do knitting then crochet etc but anyway I finally found them in a bag right in front of me!

Blues Gone

Was going to buy more wool online I usually do when I feel a bit blue but as I am sorting out my bedroom I found some wool in colours similar to what I was going to order! So the blues have upped and runned . The reason why I feel blue? I am seeing the other side of the doctors and nurses who are dealing with this virus and seeing the strain and the tiredness  breaks my heart. I do what I can by making sure that their area is clean etc, as you can guess I am a hospital cleaner. But they keep smiling as best they can. So I put on my professional face smile and greet and say anything I can do for you just ask.

Eggs.

1. Today was the first day I bought some eggs since this virus came about and people panicked bought. So egg and chips went well. 2. Nice coming home in the light. The early evening and early mornings are my most favourite time of the day. 3. Finished tidying up the corner in the garden looks good.

We were more than the 2 metres distance. Not seen her since this lockdown. 2. Getting my rhdr magazine. It’s a miniature railway based in Kent. Talking to eldest son about it and it was bringing back some happy memories. 3. It’s an honour and pleasure to work with them .

Busy

1. Kitchen is being decluttred slow but sure. The cupboards are next on the list. This lockdown has its uses. 2. Making an other sausage meat and bake bean pie! But I do use ready rolled pastry. A Hit

Bubble and squeak turned out a hit with the chilli. We are not rice eaters not much , so we be having bubble and squeak with chilli from now on. Warm lemon water and porridge for breakfast . Found the porridge at the back of cupboard still in date so that’s breakfast sorted for me for a few days. Warm lemon water instead of tea saves a bit on the milk, plus also I like it. Since this lockdown I been thinking of my eating habits and shopping ones  as well. I must admit I am bad at both so I am going to not trying to but going to change my habits  slow but sure. I find lemon water is quite refreshing. Hopefully it will do me good. How are you doing this this uncertain time?

Bubble and Squeak

1. No rice still , so what to have with the chilli, bubble and squeak. 2. Watching the birds fly and having no competition with the planes. They are so graceful. 3. A crochet afternoon is calling after I done some chores, so itching to do knitting . I must finish the cat blanket .

Calm

The air seems so much cleaner and fresher since we have been in lockdown. It’s lovely to hear the birds sing without the chorus of airplanes in the background. Still so quiet with less traffic on the road . I go on a daily walk as we are being encouraged to go out and exercise. I try to take notice on what is going on around me, many trees are beginning to blossom love blossom, it always reminds me of confetti or should I say confetti reminds me of blossom. Many of the spring flowers are coming through and against the lovely spring like weather we are having at the moment makes a difficulty time a bit more bearable . Went shopping in the evening and it was a pleasant experience managed to get what I needed and treated myself to not 1 but 2 bunches of  daffodils to cheer myself up. Just enjoying the peace and quiet. Even writing this post has calmed me down , I feel at peace with myself.

So So Quiet

No planes in the sky so so quiet. And also no pigeons either not even seen the usual birds in the garden . The high street was quite quiet but not as quiet I thought it would be .  Rather warm with a spring breeze love that word breeze. Did a shop and got most of I wanted and in the supermarket I went do there was no panic buying everyone was shopping like they usually do. Returning to the planes it’s the first time ever I have not or seen planes . Just seen 2 magpies on the chimney opposite rather a handsome couple.

Coronavirus

This Coronavirus what is going about is making people panic.  Please people out there I know it’s frightening, but use common sense. Wash your hands especially after using the toilet even in your own home . Most places in public have hot water soap and tissues. When visiting people in hospital and even if you got an appointment wash your hands . The amount of people who when they go to visit people in the wards ignore the wash basins saying my hands are clean. Doctors and nurses are just as bad. If the consultant paediatrician can do it on the ward where I work then they can and visitors. Mind you he did say he will bring the subject up and he will do. Carry anti bacterial gel and use it if and when is needed. And if you sneeze or cough use a tissues then throw it away . There are helplines who you can ring if you think you got some of the symptoms . The elderly and people with underling health issues just keep an eye on them and ring these helplines to get advice for them if ne...

Went to a re-vamped garden centre really nice but they need to sort the parking out as there was no signs to say which way to go round to park and which way to go out and in. But I am sure that be sorted. Had a nice lunch there. But that was a bit confusing, I suppose it looks good on paper but in practice it’s different, just want tea coffee you go straight ahead, want sandwiches go right to the end want cake they are at the back want pizza it’s on the right etc, I think you understand what I am saying then there is an other  counter doing tea coffee . But we  coped with it.. Had a nice chat at the till with a lovely lady, we were talking about food. She said that she likes baked potato with sour cream and chives especially when the weather gets warmer, I like mine with butter and coleslaw, but with have sour cream and chives soon, she made my mouth water. Trying to eat less meat! Increase my fruit intake. Has blood oranges the other day or should I say ruby oranges and goo...

Writing

Writing is not easy a times and you get an idea then you think along that line then you think no it doesn’t work. Trying to stay with this blog.

My poor blog . I really not had much to say in the past year or so. No wonder people don’t visit it much! Don’t blame them , I wouldn’t find it is an exciting blog or one full of information. I did think about a knitting or crochet blog but there is so many out there which is good. Cooking , baking yet again many blogs out there again. Reading? I have had the most severe reading block not read a book properly for ages . I mentioned this to a lovely assistant in the book shop near me. She said try to read to exactly 100 pages and if it grabs you you will continue to read but if not try and find a book you never consider and try again. And she said that she always takes a book with her when she is always out and about , on her way to work , and she tries to read at least a page , she said that how she got over her reading block, but she said the most important thing was not to worry to much, it will come back.  I might do 3 positive things a day again and that should kick start me...
